Overview of The DNUUMS
It was the earnest desire of the government to enhance the quality of manpower development in the health sector and for the improvement of the quality of healthcare in Nigeria and in the West African sub-region, that gave birth to the establishment of this University.
That is why the central development goal of the University is to build critical competencies and expertise in the health sciences with a conducive learning environment that will bring the highest form of professionalism, ethics, and excellence.
The vision is to achieve the highest form of quality manpower development for healthcare and other service delivery for all gender, race, religion, and socio-economic status, not giving room to discrimination of any sort.
Also, excellence, respect, delivery, collaboration, innovation, accountability, learning, godliness, ethics, compassion, improvement, and sustainability, are the core values that the University seeks to uphold.
The university is situated at Uburu, Ohaozara local government of Ebonyi State. It has about seven faculties and offers about 23 (twenty-three courses), that students who are science-inclined can apply for. It is also described as the most beautiful university in Africa. though it was just established in 2021.
The Ebonyi State House of Assembly, in recognition of the Governor’s unprecedented infrastructural development of the State and for exemplary leadership, named the university after the Governor of Ebonyi State His Excellency Governor David Nwaeze Umahi, the one who spearheaded the establishment of the university.
David Nweze Umahi University of Medical Sciences was approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC), on the 7th of July 2021, and it was approved as the 197th University in Nigeria and the most beautiful University Complex in Africa.
The university has eleven deans who head the different faculties of the school. And the principal leaders of the school are anchored on the shoulder of Professor JESSE UNEKE, the Vice Chancellor of the university.

KDUMS Admission Requirements
For a student to be considered for admission at the David Nweze Umahi University of Medical Sciences, he/she has to fulfill the requirements listed below:
- Candidates must reach the age of sixteen (16) years at the time of application.
- You must partake in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and meet the JAMB minimum required cut-off mark for KDUMS
- Applicants of the 100 level should have at least five (5) credit passes in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or its equivalent. He/she must also have credit passes in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- And it should not be more than two (2) sittings
Eligibility Requirements
