Application process

For you to be able to go through the application process you need to log in to the Dalhousie online platform

  1. Log on to the scholarship portal- CLICK HERE
  2. Click on the new user and choose Activate or look at your Net ID
  3. Check for your Dal ID. It is also known as banner ID and it starts with (B00). It is being written on your acceptance letter
  4. Follow the guidelines to be able to set up your Net ID
  5. After setting the login and the Net ID you click on the student’s awards and financial Aid.
  6. Select Apply for Student Aid and select the 2023 to 2024 session as the Aid year
  7. You click on t September –April as the Aid period
  8. You click on the Dalhousie General Entrance awards
  9. You have to follow the request and guidelines carefully.

The information given must be accurate because you will not be able to edit it after submitting it

If there are any additional financial documents or medical documents you can submit them by making them in a PDF format and sending it as an email to geasubmission@dal.ca. use “GEA supporting Doc 2023” (subject of the email).

If you are yet to apply to be accepted into Dalhousie for a program
  1. You must apply for an undergraduate program at Dalhousie University

  4. Submit to relevant authorities your official and recognized first-semester transcript. For NS and ON candidates you have to submit your Student ID number.

Application process
  1. To apply for this scholarship as a student that is not yet been accepted at Dalhousie University you have to complete the PDF version of the application that will be given to you online
  2. The documents to be submitted are t submitted by email. That is the most preferred medium.
  3. You have to save the form as a PDF and other supporting documents as PDF too.
  4. Send the PDF files to GEAsubmission@dal.ca. This application should be submitted before the deadline.

This scholarship is for applicants or candidates already Dalhousie University undergraduates. This set of applicants are students who were offered a renewable entrance scholarship.

They are accessed automatically to determine if they are eligible for renewal. This process is being carried out in late June and early July respectively.

Criteria for renewal

This is found in the award letter given to you by the Dalhousie University scholarship board. Most times for students that are starting in the fall of 2020 it is found in the dal online dashboard.

Generally, the renewal eligibility includes

  • Minimum number of credit hours required to be covered in two academic terms
  • A minimum SGPA you are to attain

  • GPA is the average of the two terms GPA joined together and calculated.
  • You also have to note that SGPSA and CGPA are not the same. They are different

Note that students or applicants who do not meet the eligibility criteria will receive an email notifying them.

If you had or have any legal complaint as a hindrance to completing the scholarship eligibility you have to write and submit an appeal through the Dal online.

For students who do not hold renewable scholarships.

They will be accessed for an in-courses scholarship worth $500-$2000. This will be done automatically every July and August.

The eligibility criteria include

  • Accurate completion of a minimum of 30 credit hours for credit work at the university in the two academic terms previously. (This does not include transfer students).
  • A minimum SGPA of 3.70 over the two academic years accessed.

It is important to note that meeting the requirements and eligibility does not give you an express scholarship because it is not static.

The cost, eligibility, and requirements might differ in different years based on the budget available and the number of students applying for the scholarship

It is also important to note that if you earn the scholarship in your second year you will receive it in your third year.

You cannot receive any earned scholarship in the same academic term you earned it.
