About Basic Education Certification Exams

The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is an assessment undertaken by students after completing nine years of basic education.

The BECE is a qualifying examination for students seeking admission into senior secondary schools or vocational institutions. 

It covers core subjects such as English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies, and various electives based on the curriculum of the respective country.

It is in written format, and the BECE includes multiple-choice questions, short-answer questions, and occasionally essays, depending on the subject.

The following is the work that the BECE portal can perform.

  1. It helps through the update center by creating an Admin 
  2. It enables candidates to log in and payment        
  3. It is used to upload candidate information and also generate examination numbers 
  4. Also, it is used to view the number of candidates that register and print exam card
  5. It is used to Upload candidates’ 1st , 2nd  & 3rd continuous assessment scores (CA3)

How to Download the Registration Application

The following steps are on how to download the offline application.

  1. Launch a web browser (preferably Chrome) 
  2. Click here to open the  NECO website. www.bece.neco.gov.ng/
  3. Click on DOWNLOAD to download the offline application.

How to Claim Center for BECE Online 

Here are the steps you need to follow to claim a center at BECE online 

  1. Click on or go to www.bece.necostage.com 
  2. Click on the claim center button that is below the login button.
  • Enter your school number and click continue.
  • Enter your new center admin Information to update your center info.ie full name, email, phone number, type of school, and address Click submit

Here is How to Login to your BECE Account Online

  1. After you have successfully registered and updated your center admin information through the link given to you from NECO. 
  2. Verify your account by clicking the verification email sent to you
  3.  Try to log in.
  4. To log in, click on www.bece.necostage.com
  5. Once it is loaded,  input your school number,
  6. Also, input your email address and 
  7. Type in your password and 
  8. click the LOGIN button.
  9. It takes you to a dashboard (lHere, you can view Candidate CA3 Resit, Transactions, and profile)

How to Register a candidate on BECE

Here is a step-by-step guide to registering a candidate in the BECE offline application

  1. Open the  BECE offline application on your computer
  2. Log into your BECE offline app 
  3. Inputting your school number in the space provided
  4. Click PROCEED and it will take you to your dashboard.
  5. On your dashboard menu, select Add New Candidate (on the right-hand side, and the registration form page will load ). 
  6. Fill out the candidate’s biodata On the registration form 
  7. Save the candidate to move to the next page to select a subject 
  8. Fill out the candidate’s CA Scores
  9. you have to select a minimum of 11 and a maximum of 12 subjects
  10. Click on the “SAVE” button to proceed.
  11. Tap the Browse passport button to upload the applicant’s passport
  12. click on the Save button to save 

How to Edit Candidates Information on BECE

It is simple  to make changes to your registration form, but changes can be made 

after the complete registration and validation process. 

The validation process ensures the efficiency, accuracy, and integrity of the candidate information and any subsequent changes may compromise this integrity.

Step 1 

click on the REGISTRATION BUTTON On your BECE account’s dashboard.

Once you click the register button, students whom you have already registered will be displayed on the app

Step 3

To edit a student’s information, 

  1. Select the student you wish to edit, 
  2. Choose  the category you wish to modify, 
  3. Make the necessary changes
  4. Click the Save Candidate button 

How to Reset your BECE online Password

Here are guidelines to follow to reset and create a new password;

  1. Click on RESET IT (this is beside forgot password).
  2. Input. your active and valid email address
  3. click on the RESET PASSWORD button
  4. An OTP code will be sent to your mailbox (this is to verify your email)
  5. Enter the code and click on verify
  6. Enter your new password twice and confirm they are correct and the same 
  7. Click on RESET PASSWORD

How to pay For Registration Quotas and Syllabus 

You can only make payment for validated candidates and centers registering less than 20 candidates are deemed unviable and will have to pay an unviable fee.

  1. To make a payment, click on  https://bece.necostage.com 
  2. and sign in to your account
  3. Click it to begin the payment process.
  4. type in the number of syllabi to be purchased and the candidate number
  5. click on Make Payments
  6. and click the small box to verify the information entered. 
  7. Click on SUMMIT
  8. You will be redirected to the Remita page to make the payment. 
  9. Click on SUBMIT.
  10. Choose your preferred payment method 
  11. click on PAY
  12. Once you have paid and it is successful, you will be given the total amount of Quota you purchased. 
  13. On your dashboard, you will be able to see how many quotas you have and how many have been used
