An Overview of Yobe State University
The blueprint for establishing Yobe State University was to encourage higher educational growth and development of the citizens of Yobe State. Yobe State University was actually founded in 2006 and is located in Damaturu town. It was in 2007, under the leadership of Governor Bukar Abba Ibrahim that the university was established and named after him, under the chairmanship of Professor Muhammed Nur Alkali.
The university started on a good footing and right now is made up of 10,000 undergraduate students, and 2,400 postgraduates, since its inception in 2007. The Yobe State University YSU, is a state-owned university, with the motto: Knowledge is Light. Meanwhile, the leadership of the institution rests on the shoulder of Ahmed Tijjani Ibn Saleh (Emir of Ngazargamu), as the Vice Chancellor of the university.
