About Abia State University (ABSU)

Abia State University, Uturu, was established in 1981. It was established by the old Imo State Governor Sam Mbakwe, under the name, Imo State University, Etiti.

Meanwhile, after Abia State was created in 1991, the Uturu campus of the University was ceded to the newly created Abia State and is now owned and called Abia State University Uturu.

If you have been offered provisional admission to study your course in ABSU, congratulation but forget to go and pay for your acceptance fees immediately while the window is still open.

The Abia state university acceptance fee is N40, 000 Please have it in mind that the payment of the acceptance fee is compulsory for all new students and non-refundable. Failure to pay it will result in forfeiture of your admission.

  1. The accommodation fee for all freshers or new students in any of the categories is N40,000. Apart from the tuition fees, all new students, are expected to also pay the Acceptance fee, Accreditation fee, and Development fees.

  2. Medical students and all Science Students of 400 to 600 levels are to pay Practical Fee = N2,950 (pay at ABSU Microfinance Bank draft to the Faculty Finance Officer).
  1. Students of Faculty of Agriculture practical fee = N2,950 (pay at ABSU Microfinance Bank draft to the Faculty Finance Officer).

Education Science students and Students of Vocational Education practical fee = N2,950 Education Science students (pay at ABSU Microfinance Bank draft to the Faculty Finance Officer).

  1. GST Carryover Students are to pay N 1,000 (pay at ABSU Microfinance Bank miscellaneous account).
  2. Field Class/Trip for students of Faculty of Environmental; = N1,000 (pay at ABSU Microfinance Bank miscellaneous account).
  3. French Language Students Professional fee = N2,500 (pay at ABSU Microfinance Bank draft to the Faculty Finance Officer).
  4. NOTE: there is a penalty for fees of N5,000 if a student fails to pay his/her tuition fees one month after the resumption of a new semester.
