They fully resumed their academic activities in 1979, 15th of November, and since their resumption, the school is known to have acquired the reputation of educating and training students.
The school has five Faculties which are: Pure and Applied Sciences, Engineering, Communication and Information Technology, Environmental Studies, and Management Studies.

Admission Instruction for ND (National Diploma)
Here the requirement for the FEDPOLEL admission is written here below:
- Check out your departmental and faculty criteria before admission at The Federal Polytechnic Ilaro (FEDERALPOLYILARO).
- As a Candidate for National Diploma (ND), to qualify for the FEDERALPOLYILARO Admission screening procedure, the candidate must meet the cut-off mark for the course to be offered in The Federal Polytechnic Ilaro.
- Another qualification for the screening requirement is that you must have at least 5 credit passes in the relevant courses, which includes English Language and Mathematics, that’s for the GCE O’level, WASSCE, SSCE, NECO, NABTEB, and it should not be more than two (2) sittings.
- An applicant must be up to the age of 16 years old in the admission year.
