POLAC Admission Requirements And Courses Offered – The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil is a Federal University that trains Police Officers to serve in the Nigerian Police Force. 

This University is located in Wudil, a Local Government Area in Kano State. The inception of POLAC, as the University is often called, goes way back to the early 80s.

In 1981, the Nigerian Government had asked that the British Government provide some Police Officers from the United Kingdom to access and subsequently, cater to the training needs of the Nigeria Police.

Admission Requirements For Admission Into POLAC

All Individuals seeking to pursue any of the available Programs at POLAC should meet the following requisite conditions.

Nigeria Police Academy Basic Entry Requirements

The basic entry requirements that must be met to qualify for enlistment into the Academy for the two cadres are as follows:-

  • A University Degree (with a minimum grade of second class lower) or HND ( Upper Credit) obtained from a recognized and accredited University or Polytechnic for cadet ASPs. 
  • All cadet Inspector candidates must have obtained a minimum of 5 O’Level Credits (SSCE/GCE) including English and Mathematics.
  • The applicant must not exceed 28 years of age for cadet ASPs and 24 years for cadet Inspectors as at the time of application.
  • However, to enroll in the University’s undergraduate programs, the applicant must be between the ages of 17 and 22.
  • Applicant must be physically fit.
  •  Female applicants must be at least 1.56 meters (5ft 4 inches) tall while Male applicants must possess a minimum height of 1.67 meters (5 feet 6 inches).
  • Male applicants must have a minimum expanded chest measurement of 40 cm (36 inches)
  • The applicant must not be an ex-convict or be one with questionable character.
  • Nigerian citizenship is compulsory
  • All applicants, both male and female, must be medically and mentally fit.

For those seeking admission to POLAC through JAMB UTME:

  • A minimum of 5 O’Level Credits (SSCE/GCE), including English and Mathematics, obtained in no more than two sittings. 
  • Selection of the correct course combination for the intended course of study during JAMB UTME Registration.
  • Candidates must have obtained a minimum score of 180 in the just concluded JAMB UTME Exams to be considered for Admission to the University.
  • All Candidates to be considered must have registered POLAC, as their first choice Institution during their UTME registration.
  • Also, Candidates must perform well in both the interview and the written exams in addition to passing the Physical and psychological fitness examinations to be considered for admission into POLAC.
  • After the Academy’s initial exam, only successful candidates would be summoned by the Academy Selection Board for an interview

For Direct Entry (DE) 2024/2025 Students

If seeking Admission into the University through Direct Entry (DE), you must meet the following criteria to be considered for Admission to the University:

  • All Candidates must obtain a minimum of 5 O’Level Credits (SSCE/GCE) including English and Mathematics.
  • Prospective Candidates must have passed two ‘A’ level/IJMB Subjects. The Subjects must relate to their intended field of Study
  • Applicants must have obtained Passes in JUPEB/A subjects related to the intended field of Study to be considered for Admission into the University.
  • Depending upon your choice of course of study at the University, a degree (First Class/Second Class Upper) in a related discipline may also be needed.
  • All applicants must also have purchased the POLAC Direct Entry Form from JAMB. They also must have been duly registered and made all requisite payments on the POLAC Portal.
  • Potential Candidates must have obtained the National Certificate of Education (NCE), National Diploma, HND, or any other Advanced Certificate with a minimum grade level of a merit pass/upper credit.
  • Also, Candidates must perform well in both the interview and the written exam
  • In addition to passing the Physical and psychological fitness examinations to be considered for admission into POLAC.
  • After the Academy’s initial exam, only successful candidates would be summoned by the Academy Selection Board for an interview

What is POLAC’s cut-off point for 2024/2025?

The Governing Council of POLAC has set the cut-off point at 180 for the current session. 

As such, all Candidates who scored a minimum of 180 in the just concluded UTME Exams have met the cut-off point requirement of the University for Admission Consideration.

Does POLAC accept second choice Admission Applications?

No

The Nigeria Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil does not accept second-choice applications.
