NOUN Admission Requirements And List Of Courses Offered

NOUN Admission Requirements And List Of Courses Offered – The proposal for an Open University to be established in Nigeria was first silenced by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 1976.

The NUC is and remains the Federal Government of Nigeria’s University regulatory body.

Then headed by Professor Jubril Aminu, the NUC forwarded a memo to the Nigerian Federal Government suggesting the creation of an autonomous National Open University in Nigeria during the course of the Fourth National Development Plan which spanned between 1981 to 1985.

This received a green light from the Federal Government and eventually, the idea appeared in the Country’s National Policy on Education in the year 1977.

The Federal Ministry of Education through its Higher Education Division got to work with regard to the process of establishing an Open University and complementing it with the already existing educational framework in the country.
