Background of Sule Lamido University

The school was established in 2013, and in September 2014, it commenced its full academic session, and that same 2014, the state House of Assembly of Jigawa state passed a bill and was renamed after Sule Lamido. Sule Lamido University is a state-owned but public university that is situated in Kafin in Jigawa State. The University is a state-owned university that was founded and licensed by the National Universities Council NUC in 2013.

It is quite true that the university was founded in 2013, but it was in June 2010, that a former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), for the sake of achieving the goal of establishing the Sule Lamido University, set up a 9–Member Technical Committee that was chaired by Prof. Munzali Jibril, of the then State Executive Council to oversee the entire project of establishing the institution.

From its inception, the University started with a four-phased yet five-year development plan, and it was also structured as an entrepreneurial-orientated institution, that is ICT driven. The long-term objective of the management council was to ensure that at the end of 2032, the school will have three (3) Schools, twenty (20) Faculties, and also have fifty-nine (59) Academic Departments, two hundred and sixty-one (261) Programmes, considering all the levels in the school.

In That same year, but on the month of May 2013, a 10-Member University Implementation Committee (UIC), was set up again by Prof. Munzali Jibril, the then Honourable Commissioner of the State. The committee was chaired by Prof. Haruna Wakili, to manage the institution. The Committee served as the University’s Management until the Governing Council was juxtaposed to become one and the same body.

In the next year, precisely in December 2014, the State Assembly passed a bill again that amended the Law by renaming the University after Sule Lamido University Kafin.  The Governor signed the renaming of the school into Sule Lamido University on 23rd December 2014.

As we speak, the SLU of Kafi has been one of the best universities in Nigeria, with the vision of becoming a top class University that solves societal problems through the use of stimulating teachings, learnings, and research in its environment, while its mission statement is to produce graduates with sound character and learning, with the spirit of service and dedication to innovative applications of knowledge aimed at improving the lives of people within the State, the nation and humanity at large.

SLU has a large number of administrative heads and officers who run the school but the big administrative cap of the institution is won by Professor Lawan Sani Taura, the Vice Chancellor of the University. visit www.slu.edu.ng

What is School Fee?

The term school fee is used to refer to a prescribed fee levied on a student of a particular institution of learning, that has government approval to operate. The institution of learning could be a higher institution or a primary or secondary school. The fees paid by each student of any school are very important because the management of the school will use such to cater to the development of the school.

The Meaning of Acceptance Fee

An acceptance fee is a fee paid by a student to a higher institution to indicate that such student has accepted the admission offer given to the student. This also authenticates the studentship of the student in that institution of learning. However, any student that fails to pay his or her acceptance fee has automatically forfeited the admission offer for the year.
