An Overview of Cross River State University (CRUTECH)

The Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH), was established in August 2002, by the Cross River State Government. The University is led by Prof. Augustine Oko Angba the current Vice-Chancellor of the University.

The Cross River University of Technology is an offspring of three mergers, former tertiary institutions which include (The Polytechnic, Calabar, the College of Education, Akamkpa and the Ibrahim Babangida College of Agriculture, Ovonum, in Obubra), owned by the Government of Cross River State.

CRUTECH was established with the vision of pursuing basic training and research and imparting research skills to equip Nigerians of various backgrounds in all areas of technology and to provide enormous natural resources for the sustainable development of Cross River State.

The law that established the Cross River University of Technology provides for 5 campuses. The five campuses are Calabar Campus, which is the Main Campus, it is located at EkpoAbasi Street in Calabar South Local Government Area, the Obubra Campus is located at Ovonum in Obubra Local Government Area, while the Ogoja Campus is located at Ogoja in Ogoja Local Government Area, and the Okuku Campus located at Okuku in Yala Local Government Area, along Ogoja – Abakaliki road.
