Joining the Nigerian Army as a Graduate
If you want to join the Nigerian army as a graduate of either a university or polytechnic, it therefore means that you will be applying through the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC), the DSSC is also known as the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSC).

- Be a Nigerian by birth
- Applicants must be certified as being physically and mentally fit
- Minimum ages limit of 22 and 28 Years
- Be medically and physically fit
- The minimum height for males is 1.68m
- While the minimum height for females is 1.65m
- The candidate should not have been convicted in any Court of Law
- Possess at least a second-class lower division from a recognized university
- Not less than lower credit for all HND applicants, and must come from a recognized polytechnic
- Must possess an NYSC discharged certificate or provide an exemption letter
- A valid birth certificate endorsed by A hospital Court or National population commission is required
- A certificate of State of Origin is also needed
- Letters of recommendation by at least two recognized referees who will attest for you
- Partake in the zonal screening exercise at the designated zonal center

Joining the Nigerian Army as a Recruit, are for those who want to apply as Non-commissioned officers in the Nigerian Army. here applicants will pass through 6-month training programs being hosted by the Nigerian Army, and the applicants in this category are required to possess O’Level qualifications and other requirements that may be required of the applicants.
