Background Of Kaduna State University 

Kaduna State University was founded in 2004. It was the need to encourage higher education in the northern and southern parts of the state, that the university was established, under the Kaduna State law promulgation of May 2004. 

Kaduna State University goes with the motto: Knowledge for development and unity. The school is located in the heart of Kaduna  It was established in 2004, with seven faculties and a total of (thirty-nine (39) departments, while its library has over 17,000 volumes worth of books.

The institution is housed by two major campuses, which are the Kaduna campus, and the Kafanchan campus. However, the university degree programs first started on the Kaduna campus, while the Kafanchan campus kicked off much later in the year.

The current pro-chancellor of the school is His Royal Highness, Sanusi Lamindo Sanusi is the current Pro-chancellor, and the Chairman of the Governing Council is Hussaini Adamu Dikko. Also, in October 2022, Nair El-Rufai of the Government of Kaduna State appointed Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa as the present Vice Chancellor of the university.

The school also operate postgraduate programs where they offer postgraduate diploma, master’s degree, and Ph.D. to its candidates. It  has four faculties for the postgraduate (PG) program:

• Faculty of Social Sciences
• Faculty of Management Sciences

KASU Post-UTME Admission Requirement 

• Candidate must complete the university online application on the KASU portal
• All candidates applying for admission for any course must posse a five (5) credit passes in their O’level results,  including the English Language
• Candidates’ results should not be more than two sitting 
• For all Sciences course, credit in Mathematics is compulsory
• All Social and Management Science courses must also have a credit in Mathematics 
• For the Arts course, students must have at least a pass in Mathematics
• For O’ level results, only WAEC and NECO are accepted for admission into all programs, by the Kaduna State University
• Candidate must partake in the University Post-UTME exercise
• Every applicant must be up to 16 years of age at the time of registration
• Candidates must score must be up to the school cut-off mark

Important Notes For Direct Entry Students:

1. Agricultural science, home management, food, and nutrition are not accepted by the Kaduna State University for admission into any of its programs
2. Also, Direct Entry candidates are not accepted by Kaduna State University, therefore, all candidates must come through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
