This means it is one of the Universities owned and managed by the Federal Government of Nigeria
This University is named after the first (and only) Prime Minister of Nigeria Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.
The university’s motto is “Doctrina Mater Artium”, a Latin phrase meaning “Education is the mother of the practical arts”.
The University was founded in 1980 and was known as the Federal University of Technology, Bauchi.
On 1st October 1984, this Institution of Higher Learning was integrated with Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria.
As a result, its name was changed from Federal University of Technology, Bauchi to “Abubakar Tafawa Balewa College, Ahmadu Bello University, Bauchi campus”.
The university, however, recovered its sovereign status in the year 1988, after a split of the two Universities.
This was closely followed by a change of name to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi which it still bears to the day.

All Candidates who wish to be admitted into the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University through Direct Entry (DE) must meet the following prerequisite requirements:
