The West African Examination Council (WAEC), has started the registration for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates, the second series. However, interested candidates are by this information invited to obtain their registration forms. 

This is to let intended candidates that registration will commence on the 10th of July, 2023.

Candidates should know that there are some new features in the 2023 WAEC GCE registration procedures, which is the inclusion of biometric features that will be used for the validation of students at their examination centers.

The West African Examination Council (WAEC), conducts two different examinations, they are:

  • The WASSCE for Private Candidates-First Series (Jan/Feb) 
  • And WASSCE General Certificate Examination, Second Series (Aug/Sept).

WAEC GCE Registration Period

  • Registration will commence on the 10th of July, 2024
  • Registration closing date: 11 August 2024
  • Each candidate is required to pay the sum of Thirty Thousand, Five Hundred Naira (N30,500.00) for walk-in registration, and the registration should be done not less than twenty-four hours before the scheduled time for the examination.

Approved Subjects for WAEC GCE Second Series

The council offers a total of 36 (thirty-six) subjects that candidates can choose from. Moreso, candidates should visit the council’s official website and check for available centers before obtaining their registration pin.

Application Procedures for WAEC GCE 2024

Every applicant is required to pay the sum of Eighteen Thousand Naira (N18,000) only, as a registration fee. Candidates can pay for the registration fees at any of the following banks:

  • First Bank of Nig

NOTE: After the payment, you are to obtain your registration pin and information VCD. also, applicants will have to pay the sum of N500 as bank charges to the designated bank. 

Candidates must have their National Identity Number, for the registration exercise.

Those with special needs should indicate it clearly (Visual, Low vision, Spastic, Speech, Hard to hear).

Completing the Application/Registration

Candidates should ensure that they apply for their examination during the period of registration, and ensure that all their personal information is correct. These include Their names, genders, passport photographs, dates of birth, and subjects. After all is said and done, they should print the admission notice which will serve as a means of identification during the examination. General Application Information

Here is important information that you need to know and have to complete your registration:

  • Even before registration, candidates should check the VCD first
  • Use a valid email and phone number
  • If you are caught in examination malpractice, you will be prosecuted accordingly
  • You need to come with your original Admission Notice
  • Make sure that your entries are correct before you upload them, the council will not be held responsible and there will be no room for corrections.
  • No mobile phones and other gadgets are needed at the examination hall.
  • No professional uniforms are allowed, only mufti with short sleeves are allowed
  • Study the syllables and the regulations before the examination
  • Application with a poor or defaced photograph will invalidate the candidate’s registration
  • Upload a passport photograph with a digital camera.
  • The passport must be BLACK and WHITE.
  • The passport has to be JPEG File only, 275 by 314 pixels with 72 bit resolution
  • Candidates are not permitted to smoke in the examination hall
