Brief on Tai Solarin University of Education

The Tai Solarin University of Education is situated along Sagamu–Ore-Benin expressway in Ijagun, Imaweje, and Ijele Communities, and it is there, that it main campus is located. The Ogun State Government on the 29th of January, 2005, proclaimed the Tai Solarin University of Education. In the same year but November 2005, the National Universities Commission (NUC) also approved the school to start its academic session. 

TASUED was not a university right from its inception. It started as TASCE which is The Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE). It was established as the Ogun State College of Education in 1978,  after the Ogun State’s creation in 1976. The Ogun State College of Education was the first tertiary Institution to be established by the Ogun State Government.

Among the universities of education in Nigeria, the school was approved as the 76th and the first specialized University of Education in Nigeria. The institution has a very high ranking in Nigeria, Africa, and the world at large. It is 2nd in Africa and 8th in the World, and that is why it adopts the 1-2-8 formula.

It was this former College of Education that gave birth to the present university opportunity to take off notwithstanding the huge financial burden of securing a new permanent site.

The institution has a very unique vision, and the vision of the school is to become the most Preferred Education University, especially in the area of preparing educators who will function as leaders in all fields of discipline, while its mission is to unravel a new dimension with quality teaching and learning. It is also aimed at ushering in a continuous update of the method and skills of knowledge providers by equipping them with modern technology and services. 

After all, is said and done, the aim is to deliver skilled and motivated members of staff to meet the contemporary and future needs of Nigeria with the capability to compete favorably in the globe. The University has been in existence for over 15 years, with four different Vice Chancellors who have made outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the institution. 

TASUED has passed through phases of academic leadership, which has brought it to the height that it is now. The pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olukayode Oyekanmi Oyesiku, led the school from 1st April, 2005-31st to March 2010: after him,  Professor Olusegun Victor Awonusi became the second Vice Chancellor of the school from 1st April to 2010-8th January 2013: and after him, the school experiences a change in leadership, and the 1st Female, who also turn to be the 3rd Vice-Chancellor of the school in the person of Professor Oluyemisi Oluremi Obilade, she led the institution from 9th January 2013 – 8th January 2018. The University has grown in its hands from its inception to greater heights, where it now is.

In continuation of the good leadership of the university, Professor Abayomi Adelaja Arigbabu has been appointed the present Vice-Chancellor of the school. He took up the leadership duty of the school on 19th March 2018 as the 1st Indigenous and 4th Vice-Chancellor of the University.

How Much is the TASUED Acceptance Fee?

Acceptance fee is a fee that you pay to a university that offers you admission, to signify that you have accepted the admission offer given to you by the school. And it is paid only by fresh students and not by returning students.

 However, the Tai Solarin University of Education is N50,000 (Fifty Thousand Naira). And every student who has successfully been admitted is to pay it because failure to pay will result in forfeiture of admission.
