About the University of Uyo

The University of Uyo was first founded as the University of Cross River State, it is one of the most renowned universities in south-south Nigeria. It was founded in 1991 and is located in the heart of the town, while construction is ongoing at its permanent site at Nwaniba, all in Uyo Akwa Ibom State. Undergraduates Admissions

Admission into the university for Bachelor’s degree programs is done through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), direct entry, and pre-degree programs. All candidates for any admission must pass a screening test. Now let us look at the admission requirements for applicants.

UTME Admission Requirements

If you are seeking admission at the University of Uyo as a UTME student,  you are required to meet certain admission requirements, the requirements are as follows:

• You must choose UNIUYO as your first choice institution
• Candidate must have reached the age of 16 and above
• Must have sat for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME
• Candidate must have up to 5 credits passes in their SSCE, including English Language and Mathematics, and must not be more than two sittings.
• Candidates must participate in the UNIUYO screening exercise.
• Must reach  the required JAMB UTME score for admission

Direct Entry Admission Requirements

If you are seeking admission at the University of Uyo as a direct entry student, you are required to meet certain admission requirements, the requirements are as follows:

• You must choose UNIUYO as your first choice institution
• Candidate must have reached the age of 16 and above
• Must have sat for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME
• Candidate must have up to 5 credits passes in their SSCE, including English Language and Mathematics, and must not be more than two sittings.
• Candidates must participate in the UNIUYO screening exercise.
• Must reach  the required JAMB UTME score for admission

NOTE: Apart from the ordinary level requirements that are enumerated above, direct entry students are expected to meet other additional requirements such as;

• Purchase the direct entry form from JAMB official website and from the UNIUYO website too
• Have an ordinary national diploma OND from a recognized university, and should be an upper/lower credits
• Higher National Diploma from a recognized university and has to be upper/lower credits
• National Certificates Education (NCE) has to be merit, from a recognized institution.
• Bachelors degree from a recognized institution also.
