UNIZIK Admission Requirements And List Of Courses… The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, is a university located in the South Eastern part of Nigeria that is both owned and run by the Nigerian Federal Government. The University is also often called NAU, or, more popularly, UNIZIK.The University currently discharges its Academic and social corporate duties from more than two campuses in Anambra State, one main campus in Awka, the capital city of Anambra State, and another, at Nnewi.
However, UNIZIK has more campuses besides these two and they include; the Agulu, and Ifite-Ogwuari campuses in the Aniocha and Ayamelum Local Government Areas of Anambra State.
This puts UNIZIK on the chart as one of the few Nigerian Federal Universities to operate in three senatorial districts of its State of location as it operates in Anambra Central (Awka), Anambra South (Nnewi), and Anambra North (Ifite-Ogwuari) Senatorial Districts.
All three campuses are enriched with well-stocked libraries and other Information Technology facilities that serve the Students, and non-academic and academic staff of the University.
The defunct Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH) can be said to be the founding pillar of the modern-day Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
ASUTECH was established in 1980 by the Government of the Old Anambra through Law No. 7 of 30th July 1980 and had campuses in Enugu, Abakiliki, Nnewi, and Awka.
Following the split of the old Anambra state into Enugu and Anambra States in 1991, the Nnewi and Awka campuses of the defunct ASUTECH were converted into Nnamdi Azikiwe University which was taken over by the Federal Government in July 1992 after which it became a Federal Institution.
It is also worthy of note that Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka is duly accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The Institution is named after the iconic Nigerian statesman, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. Also, the staffs of the University belong to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The university currently records a student strength of around 34,300 students.

Admission Requirements For Admission Into UNIZIK
All Individuals seeking to pursue any of the available programs at UNIZIK should meet the following requisite conditions.
For those seeking admission to UNIZIK through JAMB UTME:
- Possession of at least 5 O’Level credits (GCE/SSCE) which must be obtained at a number of sittings not exceeding two.
- Also, all candidates must have made the correct ‘course combination’ selection needed for the intended course during their UTME Registration.
- Candidates must have obtained a minimum score of 180 in the just concluded JAMB UTME Exams to be considered for Admission to the University.
- All Candidates to be considered must have registered UNIZIK, as their first-choice Institution
- Prospective Candidates must duly undergo the UNIZIK Post-UTME Screening Exercise in order to be considered eligible for admission into the University.
For Direct Entry (DE) 2023/2024 Students
To be qualified for admission consideration into any of UNIZIK’s academic programs through Direct Entry (DE), you must meet the following requirements:
- Possession of at least 5 O’Level credits (GCE/SSCE) which must be obtained at a number of sittings not exceeding two.
- Prospective Candidates must have passed two ‘A’ level/IJMB Subjects. The Subjects must relate to their intended field of Study
- Applicants must have obtained Passes in JUPEB/A subjects related to the intended field of Study to be considered for Admission into the University.
- A Degree (first class/second class upper) in a closely related discipline may be needed depending on your chosen course of study
- All applicants must also have purchased the UNIZIK Direct Entry Form from JAMB. They also must have been duly registered and made all requisite payments on the UNIZIK Portal.
- Any prospective candidates who wish to enroll at UNIZIK through DE must have passed the National Diploma, National Certificate of Education, or any other recognized Advanced certificate with a minimum grade of a merit pass.
