FUWUKARI Admission Requirements And Courses Offered – In a bid to address the then unequal access to qualitative tertiary education in Nigeria (that was displayed by the fact that not every state in Nigeria had the presence of a Federal University), the Government of Nigeria had decided to erect some Federal Universities where none had previously existed.
This was, however after, the Federal Minister of State, Education had submitted a memorandum to the Federal Executive Council, at its 39th meeting which took place on Wednesday, 10th November 2010.
The memorandum had requested the Federal Government, to create 44 additional Federal Universities in order to enforce the Government’s drive at improving the overall level of equitable access to qualitative education throughout Nigeria.
Subsequently, the Federal Executive Council duly approved the opening of twelve new Universities across the country stating equity and ease of access as its reasons.
The then State Government of Taraba State had donated the then Wukari Campus of the Taraba State Polytechnic (which housed the School of Administration and Business Studies) to the Federal Government to enable the commencement of the Federal University of Wukari in Taraba State.
However, on Monday, 14th March 2011, the formal introduction of the University’s maiden Vice-Chancellor (Prof O. Geoffrey Okogbaa) to the then Governor of Taraba (Pharm Saidu Danfulani Danbaba) State took place at the Government House in Jalingo.
The Royal Father had assured the Vice Chancellor of the hundred percent cooperation of the entire Wukari Community concerning the successful opening and growth of the University.
A positively aggressive workforce, constant renovation and upgrade of facilities inherited from the former Polytechnic Campus, erection of added structures, and purchase, and installation of necessary infrastructure and fittings had helped the University usher its premier batch of Students to the University’s Academic Programmes in September 2011.
Although FUWUKARI is still a relatively new University, it has continued to grow steadily in both learning and Character molding.

Admission Requirements For Admission Into FUWUKARI,
All Individuals seeking to pursue any of the available Programs at FUWUKARI should meet the following requisite conditions.
For those seeking admission to FUWUKARI through JAMB UTME:

A minimum of 5 O’ Level Credits (SSCE/GCE) obtained in no more than two sittings.

Selection of the correct course combination for the intended course of study during JAMB UTME Registration.

Candidates must have obtained a minimum score of 150 in the just concluded JAMB UTME Exams to be considered for Admission to the University.

All Candidates to be considered must have registered FUWUKARI, as their first-choice Institution

Prospective Candidates must duly undergo the FUWUKARI Post-UTME Screening Exercise to be considered eligible for admission into the University.

All Applicants must be at least 16 years old in the year of Application.
For Direct Entry (DE) 2024/2025 Students
If seeking Admission into the University through Direct Entry (DE), you must meet the following criteria to be considered for Admission to the University:

All Candidates must obtain a minimum of 5 O’ Level Credits (SSCE/GCE) obtained in no more than two sittings.

Prospective Candidates must have passed two ‘A’ level/IJMB Subjects. The Subjects must relate to their intended field of Study

Applicants must have obtained Passes in JUPEB/A subjects related to the intended field of Study to be considered for Admission into the University.

Depending upon your choice of course of study at the University, a degree (First Class/Second Class Upper) in a related discipline may also be needed.

All applicants must also have purchased the FUWUKARI Direct Entry Form from JAMB. They also must have been duly registered and made all requisite payments on the FUWUKARI Portal.

Prospective Candidates must have passed the National Certificate of Education (NCE), National Diploma, or any other Advanced Certificate with a minimum of a merit pass
Frequently Asked Questions About FUWUKARI
Is FUWUKARI conducting post-UTME screening in 2024?
Yes
The Federal University, Wukari shall conduct a Post-UTME Screening Exercise to sort out and subsequently admit qualified Candidates.
Currently, the screening form goes for a non-refundable fee of N2000 to be paid via REMITA.
What is FUWUKARI’s cut-off point for 2024/2025?
The Governing Council of FUWUKARI has set the cut-off point at 150 for the current session.
As such, all Candidates who scored a minimum of 150 in the just concluded UTME Exams have met the cut-off point requirement of the University for Admission Consideration.
Does FUWUKARI accept second choice Admission Applications?
No
There are reports that FUWUKARI accepts second-choice applications. This is not the case as this has been long discontinued.
The Federal University, of Wukari does not accept second-choice applications.

What is the cost of Hostel Fees at Federal University, Wukari?
The management of The University has made provisions for Hostel Accommodation within the Campus but for now, the exact amount payable as hostel fees has not been set yet.
