1. The Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich
This public research University is located in the heart of Munich, (in the state of Bavaria), Germany.
It is the country’s sixth-oldest operating university.
Originally opened in Ingolstadt in the year 1472 by Duke Ludwig IX of Bavaria-Landshut, the university was transferred in 1800 by King Maximilian I of Bavaria to Landshut when the city was threatened by the French attempt at Invading Germany.
