About Babcock University
Babcock University (BU), as it is now known, was founded on September 17, 1959, as Adventist College of West Africa (ACWA) to serve as a senior college for training church workers from the West African sub-region.
On its establishment, it’s recorded that the school has only seven ministerial students at Ilishan-Remo, where the university is situated halfway between Ibadan and Lagos.

The Benjamin S. Carson(Snr) College of Health and Medical Sciences:
The mission of this department is to provide students with a top-notch medical education within a framework of exemplified Christian values and beliefs. This will encourage the development of Christian doctors who are prepared to give whole-person care to individuals, families, and communities.
Admission requirements: The entry requirement is a minimum of five credits in the core sciences—namely, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and English language—as determined by the Unified Tertiary Institution Admission (UMTE).
For Direct Entry, you must have a higher school diploma, its equivalent, or a bachelor’s degree in science with a second-class upper division in one of the following life science disciplines: zoology, nursing, physiology, biochemistry, medical laboratory science, or any other discipline recognized by the Babcock University Senate. For the Ordinary Level exam, every qualified candidate must provide their transcript and proof of their academic achievement in English, mathematics, biology, physics, and chemistry in one sitting.
School of Computing and Engineering Sciences:
The School of Computing and Engineering Sciences offers the training and a wide range of skills required to excel in high-technology environments in business, society, and the church as well as for the creation, production, and maintenance of software and hardware in this decade.
Students get a wide baseline knowledge of the technological enterprise system within a framework of moral and ethical guiding principles through projects involving real-world applications. Students are exposed to situations that help them be able to:
- Understand the importance of information processing in the electronic age.
- Respect current technology and the function that computers serve in society.
- Utilize current smart microcomputer applications to process data, store information, and retrieve it, for example, to do simple jobs in a new and improved way.
- To better, imitate the real world using the software and gear at your disposal.
- Develop the skills necessary to integrate information systems into the workplace and to take advantage of strategies for leveraging corporate functions through information systems.

School of Education And Humanities:
The top school of the university is the School of Education and Humanities. The Adventist College of West Africa was founded at the same time as the school’s founding. Professor Silvanus Ifechukwu Anuligo served as the institution’s first dean when it became a faculty in 1999.
The School of Education and Humanities equips its students with the necessary skills to help them find employment and start their businesses. To bring out the best in our students and enhance cutting-edge research, interdisciplinary study and cross-fertilization of ideas are encouraged.
Within the School, five (5) academic divisions grant undergraduate and graduate degrees, namely:

School of Law And Security Studies:
Against the backdrop of general insecurity in a post-military civil society, BU offers a focused, intentional, and moral formation and reformation of a new generation of legal practitioners and a well-equipped security industry.
In every aspect of Nigerian public life, including civil, criminal, constitutional, and economic issues, these demands are obvious. Under the global oversight of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, BU is a global institution affiliated with other universities all over the world.
School of Management Sciences:
The institution holds that sound research and pedagogy will ultimately determine how societies’ educational systems and economies develop in the future. As a result, all of the school’s programs are created using a combination of classroom instruction, fieldwork, and practical experience.
In addition, the development of their course materials and curriculum is heavily influenced by institutional and academic peer linkage programs, globalization, and information and communication technology (ICT).
School of Nursing Sciences:
the following are the school’s goals:
- Offer candidates comprehensive professional training that is up-to-date, practical, and reflective of a Christian perspective.
- Prepare nursing students to manage a variety of nursing practice scenarios by demonstrating excellent leadership and management abilities through several communication approaches.
- Create nursing graduates who are oriented toward preventive health care and who are capable of modifying teaching/learning strategies to meet the unique needs of individuals, groups, and communities about wellness and illness concerns. This is in line with the universal philosophy of the World Health Organization (WHO).
The graduates will be qualified to:
- Carry out accurate client assessments for a range of ages.
- Form appropriate nursing diagnoses based on reliable information.
- Create the best strategy possible based on the nurse’s diagnosis.
- To correct the diagnosis, use nursing intervention.
- Include a medical strategy that is backed by the relevant scientific ideas and principles in a nursing intervention.
- Inform the appropriate members of the health team of important information, etc.
School of Public and Allied Health:
On July 1, 2011, Babcock University’s School of Public and Allied Health (SPAH) was founded to assist in the facilitation of the training of specialized healthcare people primarily to fulfill the health system workforce needs of Nigeria and the rest of the world.
School of Science And Technology:
the School of Science and Technology (SAT), one of Babcock University’s original schools. Over the years, the SAT has expanded, giving rise to three other Schools at Babcock University. Their faculty members and students have represented Babcock University in several national and worldwide research forums in the past and more recently, and they are highly known for their excellence in research and innovation.
Admission Prescriptions
Candidates who are interested in participating in any of the programs must have 5 credits at the Ordinary level, including English Language, Mathematics, and any additional 3 subjects from the list of relevant ones: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Agricultural Science.
The entry requirements for the 3-, 4-, and 5-year programs are also specified by the respective departments.

One of the three schools that were established from the Old Babcock Business School and given the new name College of Management and Social Sciences in September 2015 is the Veronica Adeleke School of Social Sciences.

College Of Postgraduate Studies:
Babcock, a pioneering private university in Nigeria since 1999, has upheld the tradition of providing students with cutting-edge excellence in education.
