This process of registering for admission into Nigerian Universities and other tertiary institutions through a special admission scheme for candidates who possess a diploma or advanced level certificate is used, rather than going through the traditional UTME examination, then it is referred to as direct entry.

Moreso, candidates are said to gain admission into the University through direct entry when they have already had a certificate such as a Diploma and others. In most cases, Direct entry candidates are given admission to start their academics in the 200 hundred level and not the 100 level as the case should have been.

Eligibility Criteria

Who are those that are eligible and what are the things that qualify a candidate to be eligible to apply for admission through JAMB direct entry? To be qualified for the JAMB direct entry application, you must have the following academic qualifications:

  •  At least five (5) O’level credit passes in SSSC subjects, which can be from WAEC or GCE. 
  • The five credits should not be more than two sittings, it should have a minimum of two prescribed subjects for Principal or Advanced level Certificate Examination and others.
  • Candidate should have two A’Level Examination awarded by any of the following examination bodies; IJMB, Cambridge, JUPEB, or Institute of Baccalaureate, and another three credit passes in the SSCE, based on the requirement of the University.
  • For those for education courses, they should have Passed two major subjects in the NCE with S.C.E. NTC/NBC credits or other THREE related subjects.
  • Candidates should have at least a minimum lower credit grade in the National Diploma or National Innovation Diploma. Apart from that candidates are required to also have their O’Level requirements intact.
  • Also, the JAMB registration number that candidates used to gain admission when they were running programs such as NCE and a diploma are needed for their Direct Entry admission.

How much is the Direct Entry Form?

You need to know how much the form is sold. So the question is how much is the JAMB  direct entry form?

  • Direct Entry candidates will pay for their JAMB application fee of the sum of N3,500, 
  • The CBT Centre Registration Charge is N700
  • CBT Centre Examination Service Charge: N1,500
  • Bank Charges: N500
  • CBT Mock-UTME Centre Charge: N1,500

Application procedure

To apply for admission through direct entry, you need to follow these steps;

  • Create a Jamb Direct Entry Profile.
  • Enrol NIN for Jamb
  • For your pin, visit an approved bank or CBT Center
  • Fill out the DE Registration form.
  • Submit to Jamb centres.
  • Collect Jamb e-slip

NOTE: For your application process to come to a successful end, you must ensure that your biometric and photographic capture is carried out successfully.

All the candidates should ensure that they complete the biometric capture because this is very important. Any candidate who fails to meet that requirement will not be offered admission.
