About NPFL (Nigerian Professional Football League)
The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) is one of the highest-level football clubs in the Nigerian Football League system. It was previously known as the Nigeria Premier League from 1993 to 2000. Later from from 2000 to 2003, it was known as the Nigerian Professional League.
The NFF created the Nigeria Premier League which was organized by the Nigeria Football League in 1990. That was a step in attending full professionalism as the sole regulatory for football in Nigeria.
In 2012, the NFF constituted an Interim Management Committee for the league as part of the measures to collaborate with the Professional League following the downfall of the Nigeria Football League which eventually arose from difficult legal and administration of the LMC to run a transparent and professional league.
In the same year, 2012, the NPFL was ranked as the best in Africa and ranked as the 24th best in the world by the IFFHS. With those rates, it put it a spot above the Scottish Premier League for the year.
Now this has created an avenue for most clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League to allow talented players to display their abilities by bringing them to the team.
