Overview of The DNUUMS

The propelling force behind the establishment of the school was the government’s desire to enhance the quality of manpower development in the health sector and for the improvement of the quality of healthcare in Nigeria and in the West African sub-region, which gave birth to the establishment of this University.

However, building critical competencies and expertise in the health sciences with a conducive learning environment that will bring the highest form of professionalism, ethics, and excellence, became the central development goal of the University.

In order to recognize the Governor’s unprecedented infrastructural development in the State and for his exemplary leadership, the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, named the university after the Governor of Ebonyi State His Excellency Governor David Nwaeze Umahi, the one who spearheaded the establishment of the university.

The university was approved as the 197th University in Nigeria and the most beautiful University Complex in Africa, on the 7th of July 2021 as the David Nweze Umahi University of Medical Sciences by the NUC.

The university has eleven deans who head the different faculties of the school.

And the principal leaders of the school are anchored on the shoulder of Professor JESSE UNEKE, the Vice Chancellor of the university.

KDUMS Admission Requirements

Student consideration for admission at the David Nweze Umahi University of Medical Sciences depends on their ability to fulfill the requirements listed below:

• Candidates’ minimum age is sixteen (16) years and above
• Only those who took part in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with a score approved by JAMB will be considered for KDUMS admission
• A 100-level applicant should have a minimum of five (5) credit passes in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or its equivalent. He/she must also have credit passes in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. 
• Any result that is more than two (2) sittings will be unaccepted

 Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility to apply as a student at the David Nweze Umahi University of Medical Sciences depends on the fulfillment of the requirements listed below: 

• Candidates who choose KDUMS in JAMB are eligible
• While those that choose other Universities have to apply for a change of institution through the JAMB Portal, to be eligible for KDUMS screening 
• Candidates must be sure of uploading their results on KDUMS Portal one week prior to the date of screening if they are using awaiting SSCE results or its equivalent to be eligible to apply for admission.

Application Procedure for DNUUMS Post UTME

Applicants can apply for their forms online on the University’s official website at www.kudms.edu.ng. First stage

1. Log into www.kdums.edu.ng 
2. Click on the admission menu
3. Select the online application
4. Then click on Undergraduate Admission Form 

Alternatively, (Electronic Pin)

1. At any DNUUMS-approved bank nationwide
2. Make payment for the DNUUMS undergraduate application form 2023/2024 on E-Tranzact
3. You are to pay the sum of ₦10,000 (Ten thousand naira only)
4. After a successful payment, receive a payment slip that carries your unique PIN.
5. with the pin-generated login to the undergraduate application

Second stage

1. With the electronic pin collected, log on to http://kdums.edu.ng
2. Then select Online Application from the Admissions menu tab
3. On the empty space provided enter your phone number and e-pin and click login.
4. Fill out and complete the online form.
