A New Academic Phase for UNICROSS
A new academic phase has been embraced by the University of Cross River State as it receives approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for fresh seventeen courses that will now be run alongside other courses in the school. It is actually an accomplishment and a dream for the management of UNICROSS and its students as well.
NUC Officially Approve 17 New Programs for UNICROSS
The University of Cross River State can now offer full-time multidiscipline courses now that it has received more accreditation for additional seventeen programs for itself. The new courses run across different disciplines in the institution.
The approval was made known to the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Augustine Angba after several visits have been made by the body (NUC), but in its visit in April, the Vice Chancellor was officially notified, after verifications of the resources that the school is expected to possess as a way of meeting the benchmark of the body.
In a recent ranking conducted by the Times Higher Education in Nigeria and across the continent of Africa, UNICROSS has recently been ranked in the following order:
- They were ranked as the 7th best university in Nigeria
- They were also ranked the 37th in Africa, in a ranking that consists of 51 universities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Announcement of the NUC Approval
It has officially been made known that the NUC in one of its visits to the University has given its endorsement to fifteen programs at the University of Cross River State. The endorsement of the new programs was made known to the public by the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Augustine Angba.
He stated that NUC officials disclosed the approval of the programs during the University’s 111th regular Senate meeting after the council had visited the University in the early month of April of the year, for her NUC usual resource verification visit. It further shows that the University has met the NUC Minimum Academic Standards (BMAS) benchmark for accreditation.
He further stated that the approval is a sign of the unwavering effort made by the institution to ensure that quality education is offered to the students of the institution, and the effort of the school to make sure that the best resources are acquired for the smooth, and conducive academic environment has finally paid off.
