Currently, the university is affiliated with the church of God mission with its vice chancellor and prof. Sam Guobadia FCIA, and its chancellor as Archbishop Margaret Benson Idahosa OON.
The university is located in Benin Edo state, operating an urban multiple-site campus. The university colors are denoted by royal blue, gold, and white.
Benson Idahosa University is a university that is accredited by the Nigerian education accreditation board, the only university in Africa that currently has an international membership with the United States National Academy of Inventors.
